ubio quickVET Bovine Brucella abortus Antibody Rapid Test Kit is a qualitative immunochromatographic assay for the detection of antibodies to Brucella abortus in blood in just 5-10 minutes.

Brucella abortus, a bacteria that causes Brucellosis, is originally found in cattle and causes problems with fetus development and viability. This pathogen can also be passed to humans, and the most common mode of transmission is through unpasteurized milk and cheese products because the bacteria is present it the milk glands of a female cow. The bacteria are shed from an infected animal at or around the time of calving or abortion. Once exposed, the likelihood of an animal becoming infected is variable, depending on age, pregnancy status, and other intrinsic factors of the animal as well as the amount of bacteria to which the animal was exposed.

ubio quickVET Bovine Brucella abortus Rapid test is a lateral flow assay designed so that even a technician with limited expertise can perform the test easily. The veterinarian or the technician draws blood from the animal using a syringe or a vacutainer, optionally coated with a clot-activator for faster serum separation. The syringe is kept till the serum separates, and then, 3 drops of serum are added to the sample hole on the test card using a dropper. The results can be read in just 5-10 minutes - the control line, marked C, should be always appear if the test procedure is performed properly and the test reagents are working. A red test line, marked T, will be visible if there are enough Bovine Brucella abortus antibodies in the serum sample.

ubio quickVET Bovine Brucella abortus assay is available in 10-test packs, each containing 10 test cards, droppers and small centrifuge tubes. A test card can be used for screening one animal, and it is disposed after use.
