Infected dogs excrete the virus along with faeces. Dogs are infected by oral contact with infected material. The virus causes inflammation of intestines that heals in a week. However, infections along with Canine Parvovirus can result in severe illness, with high chance of mortality in puppies. The major clinical features of the disease are intermittent vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, mild depression, and loss of appetite. Diarrhea is less profuse than that caused by CPV. CCV infection is not transmissible to humans.
